The last couple of months have been busy filled with little league baseball games, my job duties being doubled due to downsizing, surviving GERD, delving deeper into technology and getting in touch with Mother Nature through our garden, herbs & flowers.
Chase has been having a lot of fun playing for the Rockies in our local little league Rookie division. Other then rain and the swine flu scare causing us to have to reschedule games, I think things have gone pretty well. He's improving his techniques, understanding of plays and enjoying the camaraderie of his team mates. The coach is great. A real sweet, silly guy named Chuck who is also the editor of the Conrad Record. It's the first time he's coached this young of a team but he keeps them on task, revved up and is always encouraging. In fact he's their best cheerleader and advocate for good sportsmanship and fun! I don't think we could have asked for more! 3 more games to go before the season end unless they reschedule the rain out tonight. Double header tomorrow with a forecast of partly sunny and mild weather should make for a relaxing morning into afternoon.
I've also been trying hard to change my eating habits over the last month or so. Gave up caffeine altogether and have only had 2 Sprites otherwise soft drink free too. No french fries or other fried foods like chicken strips, only 1 margarita last weekend and NOT the jumbo size! Chocolate has been limited to sugar free pudding and tomatoes are nearly nil except for the occasional grape tomato on my salad and a wee bit of salsa at La Caretta. All in all between that and the med change to Nexium things are improving and I hope to eat some of those tomatoes were growing in our garden!
Speaking of gardens I hear the Lamb Family in Dubuque have quite a green thumb and are doing everything from potatoes to pumpkins! We look forward to swapping pictures and progress as we all watch the season fly by. Chase had his last day of school FINALLY yesterday and today was the first day of summer for him. He and Auntie Lisa spent it running errands and lunching at Subway. BAD NEWS ALERT! Unfortunately Lisa's new car was keyed either while at work or at the store today and estimates are for around $600 to repair. Needless to say she's sick about it! She really needs to catch a break soon. Then again so do A LOT of us! -crossing my fingers-
June Birthday shout outs go out to Steve Sr, Robbie & Lora! Jeremiah & Chase will follow them next week. Father's day is coming quickly as well and this weekend were rolling them all into one by having dinner with Grandpa, Grandma, Auntie and the three of us. Grandma Carol is attempting to find a new exciting restaurant we can all agree upon but I'm not holding my breath and odds are Olive Garden WILL win out in the end! ;) I'll keep ya posted and maybe share some pictures now that I have this rockin new blackberry phone!
Speaking of Cranberries! Lisa & I both recently purchased the blackberry curve and are LOVE LOVE LOVING all that it can do to make our lives more interesting, enlightened and streamlined. Grandma Carol, Auntie Lisa & I all are tweeting away to each other keeping in touch daily and having our tweets come directly to our phones makes its amazingly immediate and easy to share lifes updates! The address book, calendar, task lists and memo pads also make it so simple to have it all in one place without having to lug around a purse to carry it all! It even has a calculator, GPS, instant messaging and I can upload pics to my Facebook and anything else I like with just a couple clicks!
Jeremiah's been playing Frisbee gold with his friend Bret in Ames every Friday this past month. He seems to think he's doing pretty well but needs some new supplies. If any one's interested in birthday ideas for him I have quite a few suggestions! ;) We've been enjoying watching netflix DVDs each week though Mi thought Revolutionary Road was horrid! I have to agree but I would call it disturbing and screwed up more then anything. New In Town with Renee Zellwegger was cute and light for a Sunday afternoon flick. We went to see the new Star Trek & Terminator Salvation in the movie theater. Liked Star Trek a lot but thought Terminator was action overkill more then anything. Now I really want to see The Hangover though Mi isn't agreeing with me. So we'll see who wins out there! The reviews are great but he's quite the critic in his own right so even if we go I can just hear it now! LOL
What movies have any of you seen lately? And what did you think of them or upcoming flicks? Would love to hear from everyone!!
