Winter's Back

The temps here have returned to winter. Mother Nature decided to follow that up with leaving 3" of snow last night to turn everything white. It's supposed to warm up later in the week. Hoping it will melt away and then be done. She just keeps teasing us here and there though to make us think, ah, it's practically spring. Then BAM. All in all it's been a mild winter but it's Iowa so anything can happen.

We did take a quick road trip on Saturday to Dubuque along with LM. She doesn't usually get to do those things but she needed to meet the breeder there so we all rode together. A new chapter starts after that trip for LM and for Lucy. Eventually she will have a new home where she will get all the attention and no other pets to pester her. It was a bittersweet day but we tried making the best of it. LM went and had lunch with her sisters who live there and she hasn't seen for a long while. We had lunch with the Rents and introduced them to LM's Tandoori. She did quite well though we kept her on lead the entire visit since they aren't into the hugs and kisses she would give them otherwise!

Afterward, We took a little drive over to Galena where LM grew up. It was a hoot seeing her reminisce and then realize she's not in Kansas anymore. Her tiny little town she'd not been to in 25 years had grown up a bit and now has a very busy tourist Main street. People from Illinois like to head over there for shopping, wine, bed & breakfast, skiing and vintage buildings with a small town feel. Oh and ghost tours. LM got to see her old home and agreed it was haunted!
